蘇海萍是位戰後來臺，活躍於臺灣廟宇木雕工作的木雕司，曾參與三峽祖師廟第三次重建之木雕工作，但其參與之事蹟和施作之作品，卻鮮為所知，亦無見相關調查研究之記載。因此，本文將從蘇海萍生平事蹟及祖師廟之修建切入，透過訪談蘇海萍之女兒、門下徒弟及熟識蘇海萍者之述，並參考、比對文獻資料之探查所得，建立蘇海萍生平事蹟，亦試圖深入瞭解其參與三峽祖師廟木雕工作之施作，同時蒐取其施作祖師廟相關之木作圖稿及整理祖師廟之修建相關資料，進而對其參與祖師廟木雕工作之施作及所施作之作品現況與表現進行探討。

Su Hai-Ping was a master of woodcarving active in temple embellishment in post-war Taiwan. He was in charge of the woodcarving work in the third reconstruction of the Temple of Sansha (also known as Sansha Master Temple). Nevertheless, his contributions and crafts are little known without any record of exhaustive research. On account of this, the author aimed to establish a comprehensive record of Master Su Hai-Ping, starting with an investigation of Su’s life deeds and records of the renovation of the Temple, referring to the oral accounts of his daughter, disciples and other acquaintances, and making a comparison between these findings and related literature. The author also strived to understand in depth the construction process conducted inside the Temple, at the same time gathering woodcarving graphs and arranging correlated data of the renovation, in order to conduct a thorough analysis of the past construction and the present status of Su’s works.
