本省農作物生產，多年來一直過分強調稻米生產，而對其他雜糧作物則未給予應得之重視，致有關之化學除草方法均未能發展，以推薦農民採用，雖亦有零星的藥劑篩選工作，但乏系統化，致農民栽培雜糧，幾無殺草劑可用。雜糧作物在全球農業所佔之地位，實較水稻重要，歐美各國已發展出多種價廉而有效之雜糧作物殺草劑，頗值吾人借鏡參考，以系統的發展國內雜糧作物化學除草法。

It was paid more attention on rice production than other upland food crops in the Island agricultureal development during the past time. In such a case, the research and utilization of modern weed control methods on those crops are still under development, especially the crops with limite cultivated area. However, some of the chemicals have developed by farmers them selves not by the research workers. Most of those crops. anyway, are very important on the world basis. Many herbicides have recommended to farmers in different area. These methods should be reconsidered and tested, when we would like to develop our own chemical weeding in this Island.
