稻田殺草劑藥效試驗於民國43年首次在臺中區農業改良場舉行。民國53年間本省制訂農業用新農藥委託試驗辦法後，水田雜草試驗工作於新竹、臺中、高雄及臺南區（嘉義分場）農業改良場辦理田間試驗工作。自民國53年至70年止每年辦理3~21種，共137種，本文就試驗辦理情形，目前推廣情形及改進意見加以報導。

The first trial of herbicide on paddy field was conducted by the Taichung District Agricultural Improvement Station (Taichung DAIS) in 1954 in Taiwan. Since the regulations on new pesticide trials were legitimated in 1964, trials of herbicides which are used to be recommended in paddy field were conducted in Hsinchu DAIS, Taichung DAIS, Kaoshiung DAIS, and Tainan DAIS (at Chiayi substation). From 1964 to 1981, 3 to 21 herbicides were screened every year and 137 herbicides were tested in total. The present paper reports on the trial conducted, brief description on herbicides used and some recommendations on research directions .
